Should you get a second opinion on your cooling repair?

We all put more thought into where our money goes now days.  We use coupons, find daily or weekly specials, and cut back on those things that aren't essential.  So, have you ever thought about getting a second opinion on a costly cooling repair?

Several times a week, we receive a call from a person who has just received an extremely high repair quote from other repair companies.  There are also people that are told that there only option is to replace their system.  We understand that repairs and replacements can be expensive, but let's face it, no one wants to be hot!  Carolina Heating & Air Design prides ourselves on doing what is right for YOUR situation.  Let us come out, thoroughly go through the system, diagnose the problem, and give you recommendations that fit your needs and situation.  We will educate you!  We will tell you what the problem is, whether the problem can be repaired or not, what the consequences of repairing or not repairing are, what the life expectancy of the system will be, and much more.  The cooling system in your home is yours; therefore, it is our job to give you the information to make the decision of how you want to handle the problem.

Just last week we went on a second opinion for an elderly lady who was told her only option was to replace her system.  Being on a fixed income, the lady really did not know what she was going to do.  She was referred to us, and scheduled a second opinion.  After going through the system, the technician found that what the other company diagnosed as a leaking system was nothing more than a replacable part that was leaking.  Yes the unit was older and not nearly as efficient as a new system, but all the other parts were functioning as they should. The repair only cost $185.00!  The technician did take the time to inform her that it was an older system and replacement would probably be in the future.  Now she can prepare and save for the replacement when the time comes.

Now, not every situtation has such a happy ending, but we can promise to give you ALL the options.  This will allow you to make an educated decision that fits your situation.  Call us, give us a try, we promise you will not be disappointed!

"Greener Living Tip"

Wash Your Laundry in Cold Water:  An easy way to clean green is to turn the dial on your washing machine to cold. Most loads don't need hot water, and 90% of the energy used by washing machines goes into heating. The higher the water temperature, the higher the cost to you and the planet.

Does Multiple Sclerosis Affect You?

Check out this 4 minutes video on how MS Impacts Us All!

MS Facts
  • Symptoms are very unpredictable, vary from person to person, and from time to time in the same person.  Major symptoms like partial loss of vision can come and go.
  • Symptoms are a result of when an immune-system attack affects myelin, the protective insulation surrounding nerve fibers of the brain and spinal cord.  When myelin is destroyed and replaced by scar tissue, some underlying nerve fibers are permanently servered.  This nerve interferrence causes the symptoms.

National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week Starts Today!

Our company is very passionate about giving back, and we felt the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of the Greater Carolinas was one organization we wanted to support.  Why?  Simply because we have several people close to us that suffer from this disease.

This week marks MS Awareness Week.  We will be sharing with you facts about the disease and opportunites of how you can join us in supporting the MS Society.  Check out our ad on the MS Society of the Greater Carolinas Chapter Community Marketplace.  We will be donating 2% of sales back to the MS Society of the Greater Carolinas.  Also, we are in the process of putting a team together for Walk MS in Charlotte on May 19th.  More to come on how you can donate or walk with us!

Here are a couple facts about the disease:
  • MS is unpredictable disease of the brain and nerves.
  • It is often disabling, but symptoms range from numbness and tingling in the extremeities to blindness and full paralysis.
  • Affects:
    • 15,000 people in the Carolinas
    • 400,000 people in the US
    • 2.5 million people worldwide
  • There is NO cure!
  •
The MS Society helps to provide people living with the disease to continue to move their lives forward while funding research for better treatments and a cure.

Help us move towards a world free of MS!

It's Daylight Savings Time!

Daylight Savings starts this weekend, and I know I'm ready for longer days.  However, it is also a good time to take care of some things we don't often think about.
  • Change the batteries in your smoke detector
  • Change the batteries (if applicable) in your thermostat
  • Change the batteries (if applicable) in your carbon monoxide detector
  • Check and change your filters if necessary
This is also a good time to make sure your house is ready for the spring.  The Spring can bring warmer weather and ALLERGIES.  Making sure your ductwork is sealed and possibly upgrading the air filtration system can help reduce those allergies tremendously.

Give us a call at 980-235-0055 or email us at info@mycarolinahvac.com!  We would be glad to come out and go over the check list with you and talk with you about your filtration system.

"Greener Living" Tip

Install a programmable thermostat, which can save an estimated $150 yearly if preset to cool or heat your home's air (such as before you get home from work).

Efficiency & Comfort

Do you need heating or cooling?

It's that time of year where one day it is cold and the next day is pretty warm.  You come home from work to a cold house, and the next day it is burning up.  We can fix that for you.

I know everyone has heard about how beneficial programmable thermostats are for efficiency, but not all programmable thermostats offer the added benefit of automatically switching between the heating and cooling mode.  We offer a wide variety of programmable thermostats that will be even more efficient by offering multi-programs, auto-changeover from heat to cool, and dehumidification of your home.

Call us today to set up an appointment to have one of our highly trained technicians come speak to you about a thermostat to fit your budget and lifestyle!
