- Symptoms are very unpredictable, vary from person to person, and from time to time in the same person. Major symptoms like partial loss of vision can come and go.
- Symptoms are a result of when an immune-system attack affects myelin, the protective insulation surrounding nerve fibers of the brain and spinal cord. When myelin is destroyed and replaced by scar tissue, some underlying nerve fibers are permanently servered. This nerve interferrence causes the symptoms.
